Flying begins at 10:00 a.m. each day (May 31 opening ceremony kicks off at 10:25 a.m.), with non-stop formation passes, high-speed jets, precision parachuting—and the thunderous roar of Special Ops birds you won’t want to miss.

Getting There: Rideshare Is the Way

To keep traffic humming, this is a rideshare event only—no base parking for the general public. Here’s how to roll in:

  1. Park at one of three city lots (opens 7:00 a.m.):

    • Isleta Amphitheater/Mesa Del Sol

    • VA Medical Center (Gibson)

    • Gateway Center (Gibson)

  2. Hop a free shuttle to Kirtland (buses start at 8:00 a.m.; last bus back at 7:00 p.m.)

  3. Prefer to walk or bike? Use the FAA/ACE dirt lot at Sunport Blvd & Girard Blvd—just east on Lowry St.

Base Gates & Access

  • Gates open to the public at 8:00 a.m. (Eubank & Maxwell open 24/7 for personnel)

  • Carlisle Gate serves handicap, VIPs, and contractors

  • Gibson & Truman Gates closed to civilian traffic

  • CVI Gate for shuttle entry only

Quick FAQ Highlights

  • Can I bring chairs or umbrellas?
    – Yes: low-profile chairs, blankets, small personal umbrellas
    – No: large shade canopies or oversized gear

  • Kids & Comfort:
    – Strollers and diaper bags OK (hand-searched)
    – Hearing protection highly recommended—those jets are LOUD!

  • Food & Tailgating:
    – Small snacks welcome; no coolers or glass containers
    – Tailgating is prohibited

  • Safety & Security:
    – All guests and items will be screened before boarding buses and at the flight-line gate
    – No smoking anywhere on the flight line
